Martim Moniz

Short film | Lisbon 2018, 1:51 min

At Praça Martim Moniz, a square in the heart of Lisbon, people of different kinds and origin meet every day.

They often sit there for hours reading the newspaper, making phone calls or listening to music. Citizens who have lived through hundreds of years interculturally. Every visitor is a microcosm who I decided to capture to hold on to it/ them. I spent 2 days on the square to observe and capture. Everything here is currently under construction.

The space will be renewed as planned. It is said to make Martim Moniz more comfortable for tourists. This short film was viewed at Cinema no Estendal Festival in Mouraria/Alfama 2019, in the course of protests against a conversion.
